Yesterday’s tip of the day was all about our newest service, polyurea concrete flooring. In today’s blog, I will go a bit more in-depth about polyurea and its benefits.

Polyurea is an organic polymer that is the reaction of isocyanate with an amine terminated polyether resin, forming a plastic-like or rubber-like compound that may be used in many of the same ways as older technologies – polyurethane, epoxy, vinyl ester, neoprene; to name a few.

Polyurea coatings are used for:

  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Corrosion Protection
  • Waterproofing
  • Chemical, Environmental or Atmospheric Resistance
  • Decoration
  • Structural Enhancements

Polyurea technology is not new, in fact it has been around for almost three decades. However, it is newer and more advanced than other typical floor coating options, such as; paint, epoxy, fiberglass and vinyl esters. It also offers many more advantages to the owner and contractor. These advantages and benefits include a fast set nature and return-to-service characteristics, which are very beneficial for consumers that use this method in industrial buildings or work areas. Not only that, but it can be applied to many different surfaces including, but not limited to; wood, metal, concrete and much more. It can also be applied in most types of environments, ranging from high to low temperatures and even in humidity.

The major benefit of polyurea would be its fast set nature. As mentioned previously, this is great for consumers who choose this method to coat floors in industrial buildings and workshops. Typically, an area can be returned to service much faster than your traditional floor coating. This allows the facility to be back in operating order without days or even weeks of revenue-losing downtime. This process is also great for homeowners who choose to apply this to garage floors, patio floors or around pools, thus allowing them to enjoy their space much earlier than would be if choosing another floor coating option.

So if you are wanting to improve the look of your garage flooring, patio flooring or your work area, give Dalinghaus Construction a call for a quote on our Polyurea Floor Coating service. Also, keep in mind we offer a 15 year warranty on the top coat and a LIFETIME warranty on the base coat. Polyurea is UV safe and can be applied to garage floors, driveways, walkways, patios and around pools.
